La Cave de Max, a New Heaven for Wine Lovers on the French Riviera

If you are looking for a nice wine cellar restaurant where you will be able to eat authentic yet delicate food, discover some new wines in a relaxed atmosphere, and learn from a professional about wine pairing, you are in for a treat. Just outside of Monaco, in Cap d'Ail, the recently opened La Cave de Max is slowly but surely becoming the place to go for wine lovers when it comes to spending a nice evening around a few glasses on the French Riviera.

There, you will be welcomed with a smile and made feel at home. The owner, Max Minto, has worked 12 years as a master sommelier at the famous Hôtel de Paris in Monaco, and with his son, Matthieu, they offer three services at once - a restaurant, a wine shop and a table d'hôte - which makes for quite a unique concept.

The menu of the restaurant offers a large choice of traditional and rare Mediterranean dishes, such as Truffle risotto and prawn tart, made of products bought directly from local French and Italian producers.

The wine shop includes an impressive list of precious wines that few people know much about. The price of the bottles may sometimes be a bit more expensive than in a typical wine cellar but in La cave de Max you will be sure to benefit from the advice of a professional who likes nothing more than sharing his expertise in wine tasting and pairing. The wines can be bought directly in the shop but also over the phone after a personal consultation with Max.

Meanwhile, if you opt for the table d'hôte option, the small private room can accomodate up to 14 people. You will have your own waiter and a special menu adapted to your needs. During the dinner, Max will pair each dish on the menu with the most suitable wine, and will always explain the reasons for his choice.
