Le Cadran Solaire in Valbonne

You know you're onto a good thing when you enter a restaurant on a cold January midweek night and find it almost full. So it was at Le Cadran in Valbonne. With a flight to the UK cancelled and travel insurance providing an opportunity to splash out on something nice, Le Cadran was a great choice.

Le Cedran is situated on the slightly quieter eastern side of Valbonne. It has plenty of atmosphere, although the blue wooden beams are a little harsh on the eye! Home made fois gras was very special, washed down with a glass of Sautern, the best way to enjoy this delicacy, and it was followed by a fillet de boeuf of top quality. Other diners' home made tart de maison and the fillet of sole looked fantastic as well.

A very reasonably priced St Emilion Grand Cru was the perfect accompaniment for the steak served with either cepes, poivre vert or just plain grilled. Typically careful and attentive service despite their near capacity and some nice home made deserts completed a very satisfying experience. Check it out!

Situated just outside the square Village of Valbonne, this modest but excellent restaurant situated on two levels attracts its clientele from all over the area

This medieval village has become a Little Britain over the years, with more readers of the Sunday Times than Nice-Matin.

The 'Terres de Truffes' restaurant in Vieux Nice is the place to go for truffles, especially if it's your first time sampling a delicacy that's as French as escargots.
