It's going to be a Pink Weekend in Nice!

The 8th annual Pink Parade, organised by AGLAE (association gay et lesbienne azuréenne d'expression) takes place in Nice on Saturday 16th July. The parade starts at 4pm from Place Garibaldi, follows a route down towards Place Masséna and its environs and ends up back at Avenue Saint Sébastien, beside the MAMAC. This year the parade is being run under the banner of 'Égalité Homo/Hétéro, À Quand Le Courage Politique?'
The organisers will also be selling a CD (and mp3) of a song specially written for the occasion ('D'Homme à Homme' performed by Eric Salucci et Romain Pazot and based on a text by Lionel Florence) on the day for €5, all proceeds going towards the work carried out by AGLAE.

There are plenty of other activities planned for the weekend also, in truth, too many to detail here. The Pink Parade Facebook page has a very thorough listing of all the events planned. Les Ouvreurs also have their own programme of events for the weekend, which includes a screening of the classic movie 'Some Like It Hot' on Friday 15th July at 9pm at the Terrain de Tennis de La Semeuse in Vieux Nice.

So, gay or straight, let's see you all in Place Garibaldi this Saturday to support the Pink Parade and make the politicians sit up and take notice.
