'Before' is a chic lounge bar in the Carre d'Or area of Nice. Its entrance is discreet, which is probably why it's not overrun with tourists and inside you'll find a friendly mix of Nicois and resident internationals, most of whom you'd guess are regulars.

'Before', as befits its name, is a great place to start an evening. It offers chilled sounds and an extensive cocktail list. Drinks are served with an impressive platter of crudités - large enough to satisfy any 'munchies'. To say this lounge is exclusively for the aperitif crowd would be wrong though. Things get going around 10 when the DJs start and 'before' becomes 'during' and ‘after'.

'Before' is all things, but it works best as a lounge bar. Nothing pretentious, the décor is cool and the waiting staff friendly. There's even a small garden for when spring breaks. Recommended.
