Check out these great photos and be sure to rendezvous for Carnaval de Nice 2011 - King of the Med!

Carnaval de Nice 2010, which finished last Sunday, was a huge success. The Mairie has claimed ticket sales of 152,000, up nearly 20% from 2009 - despite one of the parades being cancelled due to bad weather. Carnaval de Nice cost the town around 6.6 million Euros, offset by direct tickets sales worth 1.9 million Euros. The main carnival income came from increased tourism, allowing Carnaval de Nice to post a profit of around 6.6 million Euros. Not Bad! Here are some memories of the 2010 event courtesy of FR2DAY photographer Olivia Marocco,

As you can see, the most impressive thing about this year's carnival was the quality of the floats - bigger and more inventive than in previous years. Good enough, we hope, to tempt you to visit Carnaval de Nice 2011, when the theme will be 'King of the Mediterranean'!
