When celebrities plan their outfits for their various red carpet event, shoes are one of the most vital ingredients to making sure their garb is truly unique.

But, for us mere mortals, shoe choice is every bit as important. And, if you want an unrivalled choice of shoes, then head to Mercedeh on the Rue D'Antibes. Here you are sure to find anything and everything in shoes - an Imelda Markos heaven. The day I visited they stocked Ugg flip flops with furry soles - how decadent - at a reasonable €65, to the ultimate Swarovski heels at an unspeakable price (guaranteed to bring the house down but also cause marital problems).

I have never come out of this shop empty handed and doing this review was no exception. I got my hands on a great pair of black platforms at under the €200 mark which I justify by telling myself I will 'live in them'....well almost!

For well-heeled bambinos they also have a kids shop around the corner and another shop in Monte Carlo
