...and the Award for Colour of the Year 2010 goes to...Turquoise!

It once flooded the catwalks of Paris, Milan and New York, accompanied by shades of sunny orange, yellow and smouldering fuchsia. Now Turquoise is back! Even though in my book, it never really went out of style - it's just one of those colours that stands the fickle test of time.
The global authority on colour - Pantone, (used by everyone from interior to fashion designers) have nominated turquoise as the colour of 2010.

Whether you prefer understated and elegant neutrals to bold and hot hues - colour is a very personal thing and can reflect anything from your personality to the way you're feeling. Turquoise is a universally flattering colour that most people respond to positively; whilst evoking soothing thoughts of tropical waters, in many cultures it is believed to ward off evil spirits and represents deep compassion and healing. Appealing to both men and women, it can just as easily be translated to interiors.

If you were thinking of brightening up a room this summer with a focus wall, or going all out and splurging on some new interior decor - think turquoise! For the colour shy, worry not, as flattering shades of blush-pink, peach, and calming lavender are still very much in vogue to tone things down.
Sometimes it's easy to get caught in a colour rut, so don't be afraid to experiment - with both warm and cool undertones, turquoise adds a splash of excitement and can be especially trend-setting when paired with yellow-greens, neutrals and browns, whilst complementing reds and pinks. It also creates a classic maritime look with deep blues.

If you're on a tight budget this season and are looking for a chic but cheap update to your ensemble, then why not simply splurge on a cute accessory like a chunky statement necklace, scarf, or belt instead. Cameron Diaz and Eva Mendes both had the right idea, as they are both pictured in Dior, and accessorised with turquoise blue statement necklaces.

Let us also not forget to mention the breathtaking Megan Fox (lead photo) sporting understated elegance in black Kova & T, paired once again with.....surprise surprise!!...THAT ever popular 'statement' necklace!
