Menton Magic at the Fête du Citron

It's Lemon Festival time in Menton and there's no shortage of enthusiasm for celebrating all that is citrus! Nearly 150 tonnes of fruit are used at the Fete du Citron - a veritable feast for the eye and the stomach - but it's not all about lemons, there are 80 or so other varieties of fruit on offer. All of the finest quality!

Since its beginnings in 1929, the festival has wowed its visitors and now attracts over a quarter of a million people during the two weeks in February given over to orange and yellow. This year's festival takes place from February 12th to March 3rd and the theme is Music of the World. It promises to be yet another success for the town.

The Biovès Gardens host the main activities and visitors can get fabulous photo opportunities among the huge sculptures as well as retail therapy at a variety of stalls. Don't forget to take in the Orchid show at the Palais de l'Europe, or other special events organised by the Menton Tourist Office.

In the South of France, markets have traditionally been a central feature of life since the Middle Ages. No single event better symbolises the French preoccupation.

Variety is the name of the game at Moods Music Bar in Monaco. In the month of February there's everything from jazz to rock, and even a Bee Gees tribute band.

The Automobile Club de Monaco (there's a name to get your moustache twitching) is getting ready for the 2010 Monte Carlo Rally, which runs from January 18th - 23rd.
