What's On Round-up - Happy New Year!

Welcome back to another weekly round-up, bringing you some of the very best seasonal activities on the beautiful French Riviera. So, Christmas has come and gone, and now we brace ourselves for the onslaught of the New Year's celebrations! But before you start putting on your glad rags and getting all dolled up, here are some other activities that might appeal to you in the coming week.

Ballet lovers will still be able to catch the Ballets de Monte Carlo with their stunning interpretation of Jean-Christophe Maillot's 'Lac' at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The remaining performances are on tonight, Friday, 30th December and tomorrow night, Saturday, 31st December (yes, New Year's Eve) at 8:30pm. Tickets cost €10 - €33.

The Ballet Nice Méditerranée present "Coppélia", superbly choreographed by Eric Vu-An at the Opera House in Nice tonight, Friday at 8pm and tomorrow at 6pm, allowing revellers to get out early to celebrate the New Year! What a way to welcome in 2012!

Even though Christmas is behind us for another year, the Christmas markets continue for another while. Try catch the "Christmas in Wonderland" display in the Hôtel Métropole in Monte-Carto, with their tribute to Lewis Carroll with a huge Christmas tree decorated in powder pinks and lime greens and adorned with golden touches, rock candies, giant biscuits and pocket watches - we're told it's well worth a visit!

The world renowned Crazy Horse Paris cabaret troupe are strutting their stuff in Cannes. Catch their 'Forever Crazy' show in the Théâtre Debussy in the Palais des Festivals tonight, tomorrow and Sunday, 1st January. Tickets range in price from €85 - €120.

The Régates internationales de Star are underway in Nice and continue until tomorrow, Saturday, 31st December. This event is one of the most important events in the French sailing calendar, attracting top level crews from a number of European countries. Check out the action on the beautiful Baie des Anges.

It will also give you the opportunity to admire more than 2,000 works from the multi-talented Cocteau.

Staying in Menton, look our for the New Year's Day concert, featuring the Orchestre Philharmonique du Piémont and the Ballet classique de Turin, all under the direction of Aldo Salvagno. On the programme, the works of Rossini and Strauss. The concert takes place in the Théâtre Francis Palmero in the Palais de l’Europe at 5pm and tickets cost €3 - €5.
