What's On Round-up - it's Friday the 13th!

Welcome back to another weekly round-up, bringing you some of the very best things to do on the beautiful French Riviera. It may be Friday the 13th, but don't let that put you off - there are plenty of great things going on today, this weekend and throughout the week ahead to keep you well occupied and out of harm's way!
Le Ballet Nice Méditerranée perform Chorus in Spiritus tonight, Friday 13th January and tomorrow Saturday 14th at the Théâtre National de Nice. This works comprises three pieces of contemporary choreography - Cantate 51, Oceana and Por vos muero - all under the expert direction of Eric Vu An. Tickets available online.
For dance of a different kind, you will want to head to the Grand Auditorium in the Palais des Festivals in Cannes for the Break The Floor International Hip-Hop Dance competition. This starts tonight, Friday 13th and continues until tomorrow night. Tickets cost €10 - €24.
Nice Opera present a new production of Mozart's opera 'Die Entführung aus dem serail' on Tuesday 17th and Thursday 19th January at 8pm, under the direction of Leopold Hager. Tickets cost from €38 - €78 and may be reserved online.
If diamonds are your thing, you may want to check out the exhibition that is currently running in the Museum of Natural History in Nice, entitled 'In Search of the Blue Diamond'. The exhibition is a fascinating voyage into the past: the blue diamond is the symbol of the absolutist monarch, Louis XIV.
For lovers of all things Cocteau, you may want to check out the new Jean Cocteau Museum in Menton which continues to host a temporary exhibition dedicated to Jean Sabrier, a Bordeaux based artist, who gives new perspectives to paintings through art history. It will also give you the opportunity to admire more than 2,000 works from the multi-talented Cocteau.

The 36th edition of the world renowned Festival International du Cirque de Monte-Carlo starts next Thursday, 19th January and runs until Sunday 29th January. As always, there is a spectacular line-up, guaranteed to thrill all ages. Tickets are available online and range in price from €30 - €90.
On the sporting front, our two local soccer teams are back in action. OGC Nice travel to Stade Brestois 29 on Saturday 14th January (9pm kickoff) and AS Monaco play away to FC Istres at 2:30pm on the same day.

The 80th edition of the Monte-Carlo Rally gets underway next Tuesday, 17th January in Valence in the Drôme, finishing up on Sunday 22nd January in Monaco. This year the rally is welcomed back into the World Rally Championship after a three year absence, so spectators are guaranteed top class action throughout the event.
