What's On Round-up - New Year's Resolution #1...

Welcome back to another weekly round-up, bringing you some of the very best post Christmas/New Year things to do on the beautiful French Riviera. Yes indeed, welcome to 2012! If you feel that you may have overdone it during the festive season, we have a few suggestions that might help you trim a few pounds over the coming seven days!

The superfit athletes amongst you have been salivating at the very thought of this, the Prom Classic 2012, which takes place this Sunday in Nice. What better way to burn those Christmas calories that a leisurely run along the Promenade des Anglais?

This is certainly a weekend for lovers of sport. The Trophée Andros takes place this weekend (Friday 6th and Saturday 7th January) in Isola 2000, ensuring another exciting display of highly skilled racing on snow and ice from the top drivers in the sport.

Christmas may be a dim and distant memory but you still have a chance to catch the "Christmas in Wonderland" display in the Hôtel Métropole in Monte-Carto, which finishes today, Friday 6th January. This superb tribute to Lewis Carroll features a huge Christmas tree decorated in powder pinks and lime greens and adorned with golden touches, rock candies, giant biscuits and pocket watches - we're told it's well worth a visit!

Grasse hosts the 16th Marché de la Truffe this weekend. Saturday 7th January sees all the action taking place at the Bastide Saint-Antoine in Grasse, with various demonstrations, tastings and so on, while Le Rouret hosts the event on the Sunday.

The Palais Nikaia in Nice welcomes the cast of Disney On Ice on Tuesday 10th January at 8pm and Wednesday 11th January (three shows at 10:30am, 2pm and 5:30pm), a show for children and adults alike. Tickets are available now, ranging in price from €21.50 - €45.50

For lovers of all things Cocteau, you may want to check out the new Jean Cocteau Museum in Menton which continues to host a temporary exhibition dedicated to Jean Sabrier, a Bordeaux based artist, who gives new perspectives to paintings through art history. It will also give you the opportunity to admire more than 2,000 works from the multi-talented Cocteau.
